Did you know that Bold and Beautiful is an International Hit?

Did you know that Bold and Beautiful is an International Hit? It's true and really quite cool. Recently I received an article from my friend Nadia who's family is from Romania. I posted the full article on my B&B site, click here to see it.

And just yesterday, my sister got an e-mail from Angelique just exploding full of articles from Holland. Check out just one below...Angelique, what does this article say? (I hope it's good stuff about Donna Logan!) And she also got the cover of Australian Soap World from Sam. Ok, that's English...phew!

It's kind of neat to think that Bold and Beatuiful is being broadcast all over the world. I also recently learned that some countries show it at night instead of during the day. I wonder why. Any thoughts?

Just wanted to share and wish everyone a happy weekend. Tomorrow, I'll probably get caught up on sleep and clean my apartment. There are papers everywhere. As I have in the past, if I find anything interesting, I'll be sure to post it...My sis and mom asked me to find this really funny picture of me with rollers in my hair. I don't know...maybe that picture will go missing for good!

Believe me, after what Donna's been through with the honey and the soup, the green hair, yellow teeth, orange skin from that tan, it can't be half as bad as that!!

Be Brave - take a page from Donna. :)

It's incredible the rollers my mom used to have to go to bed in. Talk about torture!! Beauty does not come easy!

Hi, Jennifer:

Thanks for sharing the articles. Living in the U.S., I've always known about how popular B&B is abroad from reading about it and seeing the fans from other countries at the fan events. But it's pretty cool to see the front page coverage the show gets in these magazines to reinforce that.

As for why B&B is shown in prime time aboard, here's this US native's take on it from 30+ years of watching soaps. Over here, the networks still embrace the idea that shows like B&B are daytime dramas. That's the way the genre has developed here, so you don't see daily serialized drama outside of the daytime hours. Even experiments like the General Hospital spinoff NIGHT SHIFT are only shown once a week in a manner closer to DALLAS or DYNASTY than to daytime shows like B&B. But in other countries, these serialized dramas have existed outside daytime for years, so B&B fits into the culture as a prime time drama.

For years in Canada on CBC Coronation Street from the UK was shown in the afternoon. But then they started also showing it at 7pm. Now they only have the evening airing.

But they also do a very popular thing on Sunday morning. They air all five 30 minute 'Corrie' episodes from the week back to back, nicknamed the "Omnibus". So fans can sit and watch the whole week at once.

Of course Canada is way behind the UK episodes, right now they're showing ones from Christmas!

Hi Jennifer,
Here is the translation of the article.
Keep up the great work with the blog! Like it a lot.

Brookes sister en and Eric wind up in bed

Donna, Brooke’s younger sister (not on TV here yet) in B&B is good on her way to beat the record of her older sister. In some cases she is already there, after Ridge and Thorne, she is now getting her third Forrester father Eric between the sheets.
All though it isn’t going as fast with Donna as it was with Brooke, cause she married all three of them.
Donna had a brief relation with Ridge, was about to get married to Thorne (a revelation from the past at the wedding day made that it was cancelled), and now winds up in bed with Eric.
But it isn’t a one night stand, or a real relation says John McCook about his bed adventure.
Eric as well as Donna find comfort with each other after being hurt in love.
They had some drinks together and find comfort in each others arms. They end up in bed but it isn’t just a one time thing.

Hi Jennifer,
I just discovered your blog last week and I'm so excited about it! I don't know too many actors who keep one. I think it's so interesting to hear from you and I love how connected your are with fans. You're so awesome!!!

I think B&B is shown in the evenings overseas because of the popularity of it. It's like the Grey's Anatomy to people in other countries and by showing it at night, more people are able to watch as opposed to during the day when people are at work. That's just my opinion...

Oh no. My sis told me she has a COPY of the hair roller picture...ahhhhhhh!

I'll be brave...and I don't remember it being that bad, but then again...it's been awhile since I have seen it. And to think she kept it all these years!

Alicia: welcome to my personal blog. You should also check out the B&B one too. On the home page of my personal blog there is a link.

I have no idea why they show it at night...but your guess is as good as any!!! I do think it is based on popularity. Isn't that great?!!! A few people I know say they gather for dinner and watch it together...so I guess I should say, be careful what you eat when Pam takes action!

Jennifer, here in Canada it airs at the same time. We get CBS but it also airs on CTV. They probably would like to air it later. But if a Can. station airs a show at the same time as a U.S. one the Canadian feed overrides the Amercian one.

All about advertising. CTV feed and it's ads are on both stations so you can't escape it. Annoying but we're used to it.

Except when it's the SuperBowl, and most of us miss the big American ads. Every year we always complain. ha ha.

[Too much TV business talk? lol.]

Hi, Jennifer:

How do I know so much about TV? There are some comical answers to that which would probably take me hours to recall, but the honest truth is that I'm one of those people who grew up watching soaps since they often had to watch along with their mothers. Growing up, I started watching SEARCH FOR TOMORROW and Y&R since we couldn't go out until my mom saw her "stories," so I was already into soaps by the time they became cool thanks to Luke and Laura on GH. When I was in school, Mom kept me up to date on what I missed until she started working again, and then we had to keep up through Soap Opera Digest until we finally got a VCR. And having Y&R as one of my main shows in the 80s got me into B&B when it first started thanks to the Bell family connection, and I've watched B&B since the beginning.

As I got more into the shows, I started reading more about them, and that's even become easier now that the Internet makes information so easily available. I've had a B&B fan site for years, so a lot of times I go looking for info as part of that and come across all kinds of tidbits about the industry.

And thanks for your answer to my comment on your blog at B&B's official site. If there was any doubt that you were right about Pam being Donna's arch nemesis, I think it got shot down after the events of this week's episodes. With Marcus bit by a snake and Beth hit by a car, Pam has crossed lines even her sister never did, and the CBS promo for this week has some chilling scenes with Pam that are probably coming later this week.

I know I've read in interviews about how you and Alley Mills enjoy your on-screen rivalry. Does her now showing Pam's sinister side changed the way you react to her as Donna?

About showing BnB late afternoon or at night, perhaps the stations figure more people are at home than during the day? Could be.
